SMS Video Jukebox

Pixel Inspiration, a UK CoolSign integrator, was asked to create a series of video jukeboxes in venues across the UK where customers could interact with a display via their mobile to pay for and play tunes.

The client’s requirements were simple:

• Publish the details of video and audio tracks available in each venue
• Allow customers to select and pay for a track using an SMS message
• Confirm the customer request on the local venue screens
• Download and play the requested content at the local venue
• Provide full Digital Signage capabilities to each screen, including the placement of advertising and local messaging

Pixel developed an SMS to CoolSign software component that was responsible for checking the validity of each incoming request and subsequently firing the correct Play Now and Trigger messages to the Network Controller. Standard CoolSign communications then ensured that the correct content was played on the CoolSign player in the respective venue.
